The natural playground at NoordOogst in Amsterdam Noord is one of those places where kids can still truly go on an adventure. No brightly colored play equipment here, but a watercourse that flows into a splash pool with little waterfalls, stepping stones, and big tree trunks to climb over. The trees form a natural climbing route, and from the lookout tower you can see all of NoordOogst — even the pigs further away.
For the little ones, there is a shaded sandbox and plenty of space for parents to settle down. Benches and picnic tables are scattered around, perfect for a spontaneous picnic or a laid back birthday celebration.
The playground sits in the heart of NoordOogst, an urban farming hub where nature, local food and crafts come together. On the first Saturday of every month, there is the Buitenmarkt — a lively market with local food, natural products and upcycled goods. Since it is on the same grounds, it is easy to combine both.
The area is compact but easy to navigate
The paths around the site are smooth and accessible, though parts of the playground itself are natural terrain and therefore less suitable for wheelchairs or strollers.
The natural playground is always open during the day, free and public.
